I booked us in for a weeked break the owners were very welcoming the food was very good and when we looked out of the window there was a small herd of deer on the front lawn as we sat in the bar the atmosphere was so relaxed we found it easy to chat with the other residents, the room we stayed in was also very relaxed and beautful well worth a second vist we defiantly will be going back
We were a bit unsure when we arrived what to expect, the hotel is from a different era, but what a little gem. Our room was basic but comfortable, with a lovely view of the garden( with deer) and clean and warm.
We had booked for evening meal and how pleased we were that we had, the food was excellent and cooked to perfection- with a good variety of choice and plenty to eat, everything was fresh and local. The following morning the breakfast was also excellent.
The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. The newly built gym and pool was a delight and was opened up especially for our use.Well worth a visit.
Food and service was fantastic! Game casserole was lovely…
Breakfast cooked to order.
The rustic charm and quirky style was a breath of fresh air from the normal modern hotel!
Really great weekend away, great scenery, excellent food and hosts! Everything you need, fitness suite, swimming pool, billiards room, quiet areas, bar, restaurant and log fires!
We enjoyed a lovely stay in this beautiful, charming hotel. Mavis and Alan the owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The view of the garden from our bedroom window was stunning and were lucky enough to see several deer grazing.
The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the forest.
The hotel boasts a state of the art fitness centre, and billiard room, and as another reviewer has said bar, restaurant and quiet areas.
We will certainly visit again.
